Overcast with occasional drizzle today in spite of the forecast that
said it will be fine. The trail went through the ridge line but didn't have a
good view. Mountains I have walked the day before yesterday near Whangrei Head
were seen far away. It surprised myself how far I came in 48 hours. Down the
ridge line and headed to Mangawhai Cliff Walk - then found the track was closed
due to landslide! Later I found it happened only 6 days ago (on 18/09). There was no other way than walking
down the State Highway to Mangawhai. Along the SH, the shoulder was narrow and cars
passed by in a high speed that made me scared. Viewing Mangrove bush at
Mangawhai Bay, arrived at a holiday park. $18 for tent site. Appreciated
daylight saving that started today - it was bright till 19:30. Walked 29km
today.
今日は晴天という予報とは裏腹に、一日どんより曇り時々霧雨。山の稜線を歩くコースだったが、眺望は今ひとつだった。それでも一昨日 登ったファンガレイ・ヘッド辺りの山々が遥か遠くに見え、たった48時間でこんなに移動したのかと自分でもビックリ。その稜線を下り、次にマンガファイ・クリフ・ウォークへ向かおうとしたら、トラックが崖崩れで閉鎖になっていた！後で知ったところでは、わずか6日前（18日）に閉鎖になったばかりのようだ。仕方なく国道を通ってマンガファイ・ヘッドへ。しかし国道歩きは路側帯が狭く、すぐ横を車が猛スピートで飛ばしていくのでヒヤヒヤする。その後はマンガファイ湾のマングローブ帯等を目にしながらホリデーパークへ向かい、また$18払ってテント泊。今日から夏時間となり、19:30頃まで明るいのでありがたい。本日の歩行29km。
