Woken up by 2 hen visit to my tent as camping in the paddock.  They were very friendly girls.  The owner of the farm was not there in the house, so left a thank-you note before leaving at 7:30.

At the entrance of the track, there was a temporary track closure notice due to felling.  Holy molly!! Didn't know that!!  Rang the number on the sign board in hurry.  Person on the phone told me to walk back to the dairy and ask for a detour route.  I explained I was on a sole trip on TA - then he discussed with the site manager and gave me a special permission to carry on.  Terrible noise at the felling site and men at work said they started at 6:30.  There were kiwi calls in the forest around last night... wonder if there were any impacts on kiwi habitats.

Passed felling area, and carried on... saw Tane Moana, a giant Kauri tree along the track and trip went on smoothly.  Met local old couple Paul and Julie on a way.  They said Ngunguru river ahead can only be crossed by a boat.  Got into a panic because I was going to walk across the river.

Arrived Ngunguru township having no ideas about how to sort it out.  A guy Matt spoke to me seeing my large backpack.  When I explained him the situation, he said he could get me across the river with his mate's dinghy.  While Matt went to his mate's place to borrow the dinghy, had lunch and did shopping in town.  Matt came back with his mate and dinghy!  Started rowing at low tide time at 13:00 and took 30 mins to go across.  Looking a bit roguish, they were really nice guys - so happy and warm hearted.  After the crossing, trip went on smoothly again.  Camped along the river.  Walked 24km including 1km boat trip today.
