When I was having breaky, a chubby and friendly tabby looking similar to our cat Tora came to hang around with me.  He made me miss Tora.  After having left the lodge, walked the trail going through Kerikeri township.  It was still mid September but orange trees were in fruit, and rhododendron and pohutukawa were in full blossom - fully realised it is a really warm place here!  Went through Waitangi forest and got to Paihia.  It was a mono-phased planted pine forest, extremely monotonous scenery all the way.  Felt an acute pain in left knee when coming to the end of the forest.  Wondered it was because I have been walking on a pair of sandals which do not have good cushion?  The accommodation I stayed tonight had a spa luckily and enjoyed a long hot soak to relax tired body in the evening.  The knee pain was a worry for me walking tomorrow and on.  Went to the supermarket in town to buy food for next 4 days.  It was windy today but a fine weather overall other than a brief evening shower.  Walked 24km.
