At 7:30 Ben the holiday park owner gave me a ride for 3 km to the
railway bridge, where I have finished yesterday, and started to walk there
today. This bridge looked very old and unsafe, and was a vintage bridge
actually: pillar was build in 1877, and a bridge girder was replaced in 1962.
The first 3km I was walking on a prom along the river, and on State Highway 4 and State Highway 3 rest
of the day. Last 9km of the trail was running on a country road nearby, but
was a sealed road all
the way. On my way, found part of the farmland was coloured in pink - a local
person told me it was a Pink Ragwort. A new thing to learn today as I only knew
Yellow Ragwort. At 15:30 arrived at Koitiata campsite as planned. It was a
small and simple one, but there were hot water in the kitchen, hot water shower
and a washing machine there. Costed me $6/night - cheap! (additional $2 applied
for taking shower.) There were only 5 people including me, so had a peaceful
night. Walked 33km today.
