Got up at 6:00, a bit late for me to get up and spend my time doing yoga, until everyone else got up after 7:00.  Started padding at 9:00.  It was better weather than yesterday with hardly any wind and more blue sky.  Paddling did not make me as tired as yesterday - probably got used to doing it.  Wanganui river is originated from volcano areas of Tongariro, and sometimes pumice stones were floating on the river.  Paddled slowly, having a break frequently at the campsite alongside the river.  About at 13:00 arrived at Mangapurua. Moored the kayak and walked 2.7km down to the Bridge to Nowhere.  Around this point, general tourists were around.  Jet boats went up and down the river making giant waves that made my kayak up and down a lot and scared me that it might turn over.  The waves were far worse than rapid currents.  Arrived at Tieke Kainga where we planned to stay tonight at 16:30.  Gavin and Maddy, a maori couple and managers of the hut were luckily staying at the hut and held the official Maori ceremony that welcomes visitors at Marae (a maori meeting place).  The hut we were actually staying was the one next to this.  People staying at the hut were only 5, and they went to sleep early tonight as well. Very quiet night.  Paddled 29km today.
